As we celebrate our 15 years in specialty coffee, we would like to pay tribute to the producers who have inspired us in our journey - be it in their pursuit of excellence, or their dedication to building a better future for their communities.
Earlier last year, we had the opportunity to visit one of our longtime friend in Coffea diversa, one of the largest coffee garden in Costa Rica with the largest private collection of coffee varietals. We also wanted to share about the coffees that were once grown around the world but have long been forgotten.
This special boxset contains a selection of four rare varietals handpicked from Coffea diversa, each with their own unique traits and flavour profile. We hope you will enjoy these coffees as much as we did picking them out for you.

Coffea diversa is one of our favourite coffee gardens in Biolley, Costa Rica, with one of the largest private collection of coffee varietals. By choosing the path of genetic diversification, Gonzalo Hernandez has preserved the history of coffees that were once grown around the world but have long been forgotten.
This boxset contains a selection of four rare varietals from Coffea diversa, each with their own unique traits and cup profile: Purpurascen Longberry, Cioccie, Maragogype , Mokka

Purpurascens Longberry is a natural mutation of the Bourbon varietal. We first learnt of it in 2016 from Gonzalo, and we're delighted to be able to showcase it again. The cup profile is floral, tasting of bergamot with a slightly effervescent red apple acidity, and blueberry finish.
First planted in Coffea diversa a few years ago, this is one of the first few harvest of this varietal, as it continues to mature and produce cherries. The cup profile is typically floral, but this particular lot presents a more fruity profile, with a citrusy tangerine acidity, rich deep honey sweetness, and a pleasant oolong aftertaste.
A predecessor of the highly prized Pacamara varietal, the Maragogype varietal is a mutation of the Typica varietal, first discovered in Brazil. This lot is processed as a 'winey', giving this coffee a tropical fruit character, tasting of red grape, and lychee, with a cacao nib finish.
With its tiny, round beans, the Mokka varietal holds the title of the smallest beans in the coffee world. This is one of the first few varietals we tasted from Gonzola, and it still remains one of our favourite for its fruit-forward profile of pear, qunice jelly, with an apple pie finish.
