Tadesse Edema is a pioneer among producers in Uraga, and was the first to build a washing station in the region. Tadesse is more than just a coffee producer, but also a community leader who built schools and roads in the region. The Tabe washing station was constructed 12 years ago, which paved their way to entering the renowned Layo Teraga Cooperative WS.
The Tabe Burka natural follows the traditional Ethiopian natural process method. The cherries first pass through a flotation test to filter out unripe cherries. They are then cleansed before being laid out on the drying field in a single layer. Cherries are also being raked every hour to ensure even drying and to pick out damaged cherries. After a few days, they increase the thickness of the layer to slow down the drying process. The slow drying process helps to create a fuller and sweeter profile for the coffee.
Their meticulous efforts help to consistently produce high scoring coffees within Uraga, contributing to the reputation of coffees from Uraga.
